Like HTC, Samsung has been rumored to release a ‘Prime’ version of the Galaxy S5 as well. And while both the Galaxy S5 and the One M8 are already maxed out in terms of specs and features, there are still a bit few things that can be upgraded like it’s display to 2560 x 1440 and processor to the new Snapdragon 805 processor. And that’s pretty much it. But in this generation where specs is pretty much everything to most consumers out there, these ‘Prime’ versions just ‘might’ be a hit.
And it looks like Samsung knows exactly about the possible costing issues as a new report coming from the Korean Herald says that the manufacturer will only make the Galaxy S5 Prime limited edition which in my opinion, a good decision from the tech giant.
I’ve already said it many times in the past, but i’ll say it again now. 2k display on a 5-inch device is completely uneccessary. It drains more battery juice, plus the difference isn’t really noticeable. And a slight upgrade on the CPU for an even higher price won’t really cut it for the majority of the consumers out there. And now that flagship smartphones that are way cheaper like the Nexus and OnePlus One is emerging, having ‘Prime’ versions that has an even more prime price isn’t really a good idea for these prime manufacturers.
