HTC announces its first net quarterly loss

HTC released unaudited results for Q3 2013. This quarter is the worst one since HTC went public in 2002 and it’s the First time HTC has NET Quarterly losses.

The Taiwanese company recorded a NET loss of NT$2.97 billion ($101 million) in Q3 2013. In the same quarter of 2012, HTC had reported a NET profit of NT$3.9 billion.

HTC hoped that the One would interrupt the downward trend, but the sales failed to meet the company’s expectations.

We all remember the production problems and delays of the One due to technical issues (mostly because of the supply delays for the Ultrapixel camera and the problems caused in production line as the result of its design). HTC Mini is also facing supply problems due to a casing shortage.

The HTC’s 2013 flagship (One), with all these production problems and delays, failed to survive the competition from other Big OEM’s flagships.

We hope that HTC finds the right solutions to this financial issue soon, as it’s vital for the competition and consumers to have the widest range possible of OEMs in the market.
