If you haven’t heard of XiaoMi before, it is a fast growing Chinese OEM for Android backed by former Google vice president Hugo Barra and is known to offer high-end smartphones at very reasonable prices. They also uses the MIUI skin on top if their Android devices.
Yesterday, XiaoMi’s newest flagship device – The Mi-3, just went on sale and quickly sold out it’s first batch of production (100,000 units) in 83 seconds. The 16GB version retails for CNY 1999 (about $327) and the 64 GB model sells for CNY 2499 (about $410). That’s how popular XiaoMi is at least in the Chinese market.
XiaoMi is so proud of this that they quickly shared it via Twitter:
XiaoMi has recently edged out HTC as the fifth most popular smartphone maker in the Chinese market and has been gaining more and more loyal customers ever since. XiaoMi has also expressed it’s intentions to expand their reaches including the US market.
