The first true octa-core smartphone powered by a MediaTek SoC is now a reality.
It’s called UMI X2S and it’s the world’s true octa-core SoC smartphone! But what does this mean? It means that MediaTek’s chipset is the first in the world to allow all 8 cores to work simultaneously! If you remember Samsung’s Exynos 5 octa-core processor uses big.LITTLE architecture by ARM, meaning that it uses only a group of its 8 cores at the same time and not all of them together.
In its other specs, the device packs an MT6592T SoC @ 1.5GHz, with a 5 inch display 1080×1920 pixels, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, a 13 MPixels camera and NFC support. We still have no info on its pricing but if we were to guess we would say around 180-240 Euros in the local Chinese market.
