Samsung and LG to mass-produce OLED flexible displays in October



We Previously reported that Samsung will launch a smartphone with curved display in October., and now another source confirms it and said that LG will unveil a smartphone with flexible display in October as well.

Samsung will use a display that is reported to have a 5.5-generation (1300x1500mm) line at the OLED plant in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, and LG’s Display with a 4.5-generation (730x920mm) line in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

Sources also said that Within this year, Samsung and LG respectively will have a monthly production capacity of 1.5 million and 35,000 flexible panels. But the said smartphones will not be having a completely flexible display but the batteries will be a little curved and can be fixed after being curved according to Samsung SDI’s CEO Park Sang-jin. It is also said that it will take a few more years for flexible displays to be able to fully take different forms and to be rolled up like paper.
