In case you didn’t know, iFixit specializes in tearing down devices shortly after they are released in the market and now it’s time for Google’s flagship to… suffer! That’s why iFixit specialists destroyed it completely using a screwdriver, to see what’s it’s made of!
So what did they find? Nexus 5 has a BCM4339 Wi-Fi chip and a BCM20793M NFC Controller installed, and LTE chip from Qualcomm (WTR1605L) along with a Snapdragon 800 SoC with LTE modem on top for speeds up to 15Mbps! The device also packs 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
According to iFixit, Nexus 5 is really easy to open up and fix in case something goes wrong and it is really easy to replace parts such as the speaker or the audio jack. You can read more regarding the Nexus 5 teardown here.
