Meet the Antares, a new smartphone from Tonino Lamborghini that looks, well, Lamborghini-sh. And as you can see by the looks, it isn’t something you can buy with only 3-digits of cash.
The Antares smartphone will be priced at a hefty $4,000 when it launches in the US next year. It sports a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear camera. You also get 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded using the included microSD slot. Though the mentioned specs can be categorized as high-end, the screen might leave something to be desired -960 x 540 resolution. But then again, if you’re spending $4,000 on a smartphone, you are probably not primarily interested in its technical specs.
Further solidifying its status as a luxury smartphone, the Antares’ body is made up of stainless steel and leather. Gorilla Glass covers the display and helps keeps your significant investment at least somewhat safe from damage, but for that price, you should probably lock this smartphone in a titanium case. The phone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with a custom interface, a bit of a let-down since it should at least run on Android 4.3.
The Antares will be initially launched in China and Russia next month. The phone will next head to the US, Italy, and the UK in Spring of 2014. And Unsurprisingly, the Antares will be limited edition device, and each one will have a unique serial number printed on the back. The Antares also marks the first release in a planned line of smartphones from Lamborghini, so it looks like the company will be producing a series of limited edition luxury smartphones from time to time.
So if you’re both a smartphone and Lamborghini fan with some bucks to spare, this is definitely the device for you. If not, let’s just enjoy looking at the screenshot together.
